Take Risks

ज़िन्दगी है तो ख्वाब है ख्वाब है तो मंजिलें है मंजिलें है तो फासले है फासले है तो रास्ते है रास्ते है तो मुश्किलें है मुश्किलें है तो हौसला है हौसला है तो विशवास है - Javed Akhtar To love is to risk not being loved in return.  To hope is to risk pain.  To try is to risk failure, but risk must be taken because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing.

Story of Appreciation

**Story of Appreciation** One young academically excellent person went to apply for a managerial position in a big company. He passed the first interview, the director did the last interview, made the last decision. The director discovered from the CV that the youth's academic achievements were excellent all the way, from the secondary school until the postgraduate research, Never had a year when he did not score. The director asked, "Did you obtain any scholarships in school?" The youth answered "none". The director asked, " Was it your father who paid for your school fees?" The youth answered, "My father passed away when I was one year old, it was my mother who paid for my school fees. The director asked, " Where did your mother work?" The youth answered, "My mother worked as clothes cleaner. The director requested the youth to show his hands. The youth showed a pair of hands that were smooth and per

Nature and Cooperation

Taiwan yuhinas (pictured) are a joint-nesting species of birds where group members within a nest are unrelated. Shen et al. show that unfavourable environmental conditions reduce social conflict and make the birds more cooperative, a strategy that results in higher offspring survival. Pic Source  Internet

Harmony

Came across this intersting article today..... Hmmm... agreed- >" Were the differences between the sexes to be abolished, human nature would become as flat-tasting as wilted vegetables. " Men have long disparaged women for no better reason than that they simply aren't men. And women, too, have long dismissed anything men say or do with the mere epithet: “Men!” We should be thankful for the differences in human nature. Were the differences between the sexes to be abolished, human nature would become as flat-tasting as wilted vegetables. Let us look at that expression of masculine contempt: “Bahfeminine intuition!” Women are often, in fact, intuitive. So also, though generally in other ways, are men. Women's intuition finds expression most often through their insights into people. A wife may warn her husband, for instance, “That person you've been thinking of hiring isn't a good choice.” “What makes you think so?” demands the husband. “You've met him onl

In our hands - Karma

We all come across situations in life, when the right seems wrong, and the wrong seems right..... Sometimes, we are so frustrated with life and want to put blame to destiny for all the wrong that's been happening. Its all about Karma - don't you think God is kind enough not to let us know of our previous Karmas - good or bad, else it'd be so very difficult to live in this life. I have always been taught, and believed that man is the creator of destiny - Its we who choose our paths - and not that the paths choose us! I really liked this: John Oliver Hobbes said: “Men heap together mistakes of their lives and create a monster they call destiny”. Keep earning good karma, thank for people who come in your life at different moments.... Love yourself for what you are, and improve upon your mistakes readily. Do things truly- so that you can look directly in your own eyes - if you can be truthful to yourself, you are already a winner - you are already powerful! FORGIVE: and

Ik Pal ka Jeena! dREAMZ uNLIMITED!

Carnegie Mellon Professor Randy Pausch, who is dying from pancreatic cancer, gave his last lecture at the university Sept. 18, 2007, before a packed McConomy Auditorium. In his moving talk, "Really Achieving Your Childhood Dreams," Pausch talked about his lessons learned and gave advice to students on how to achieve their own career and personal goals. My favorite quote from the last lecture by this CMU prof "It's not about how to achieve your dreams; it's about how to lead your life. if you lead your life the right way, the dreams will come to you." and The brick walls are there for a reason. The brick walls are not there to keep us out; the brick walls are there to give us a chance to show how badly we want something. The brick walls are there to stop the people who don't want it badly enough. They are there to stop the other people!  - Randy Pausch So very nostalgic! Dream on! :) and how I relate to "Steve Jobs

Self-awareness Makes us Unique

We are a unique species..... Are we the centre of God’s creation? In all our thinking and discussions about life and the universe, we seem to assume so. We have convinced ourselves that the array of living beings in the universe makes up a neat hierarchy. At the pinnacle of that hierarchy is the human being. At the lowest rungs of creation are minerals. Then come the mosses, fungi and plants. Plants have only a sense of touch. Singlecelled and multi-celled microbial organisms feature the next stage of development. At the next higher perch are the reptiles, mammals, birds and animals. Finally, at the apex is the most evolved form of living being, the human, the most advanced and the most developed among all living creatures, the supreme glory of all creation. Greek philosopher Aristotle proposed the interesting idea of a vital principle that guides the development, functioning or evolution of an organism or a hierarchy of beings. It was this vital principle that resulted in life

Winning and Losing

Somehow... I have always learnt to be in and work towards a win-win situation rather than a win-lose situation..... Felt like jotting down some thoughts which I had read a while ago.... After failing for the 2nd time, Edmund Hillary challenged Mt. Everest "I'll come again & conquer you, coz as a mountain u cant grow, but as a human I can" (aww! leave d qoute aside.. i wanna go hiking right now :P) I can accept failure. Everyone fails at something... But I can't accept not trying... ~~ Michael Jordan The most important lesson I have learnt from sports is how not to be only a gracious winner, but a goo loser as well. Not everyone wins al the time, as a matter of fact.. no one wins all the time..... Winning is the easy part, losing is really tough. But you learn more from one loss, than you do from a milion wins (yups.. abs right!) You learn a lot about sportsmanship. I mean its really tough to shake a hand of someone who just beat you, and its even harder to do so

Forgive... let go.. set free!

Forgiveness is the mental, emotional and/or spiritual process of ceasing to feel resentment, indignation or anger against another person for a perceived offence, difference or mistake, or ceasing to demand punishment or restitution.....
