The woman who walks alone

The woman who follows the crowd  will usually go no farther than the crowd. The woman who walks alone  is likely to find herself in places no one has ever been before ~ Albert Einstein P.S. This thought has been referred to in various forms: The earliest known version referred to a “man”, and later versions switched to “one”, “person”, or “woman by Albert Einstein? Eda LeShan? Alan Ashley-Pitt? Francis Phillip Wernig Never-the-less, its the thought that counts :)

Talent vs Attitude - harsha bhogle

It all begins in the mind..... A must-watch talk on why attitude matters, not talent. Presented at IIM Ahmedabad by Harsha Bhogle, a well known cricket commentator in India. A summary is here: How one deals with a certain situation tells about a person... Rightly said, its the attitude which determines the altitude... And for those who can spare out some time for the complete talk: part 2: what you heard in the summary.. belongs here

I am kalaam

Watch little Kalaam who is sharp, confident and wants to fight destiny - a-la saying he heard from H'ble Abdul Kalaam ji (Well, I have been a fan of H'ble Abdul Kalaam ji :), and this sweet trailer is really heart touching...) Thought provoking, this short movie produced by Smile Foundation and directed by debutant director Nila Madhab Panda, is about a nine year old boy who aspires to overcome all hurdles to chase his dream of studying. This movie showcases the problem of child labour which still persists and a lot yet needs to be done to bring good quality education to more and more children across India (and having worked with a few of these kiddos :), I know its really tough coaxing parents into sending them for education). The movie's been showcased at the Cannes Film Festival in May 2010, and eyeing for other international festivals like Germany international Film Festival, Giffoni Film Festival, and Mostra

The Three Stonecutters

via moolanomy.com Once upon a time, there was a traveler who came upon three individuals working with stone. Curious as to what the workers were doing with the stones, the traveler approached the first worker and asked, “What are you doing with these stones?” Grumpily and without hesitation the worker quickly responded, “I am a stonecutter and I am cutting stones.” Not satisfied with this answer, the traveler approached the second worker and asked, “What are you doing with these stones?” The second worker paused for a moment, sighed, but smiled a little and then explained, “I am a stonecutter and I am trying to make enough money to support my family.” Having two different answers to the same question, the traveler made his way to the third worker and asked, “What are you doing with these stones?” The third worker stopped what he was doing, bringing his chisel to his side. He looked at the traveler with a beaming smile on his face and declared, “I am a stonecutter and I am b

smile at the storm

A little girl walked to and from school daily. Though the weather that morning was questionable and clouds were forming, she made her daily trek to the elementary school. As the afternoon progressed, the winds whipped up, along with lightning. The mother of the little girl felt concerned that her daughter would be frightened as she walked home from school and she feared the electrical storm might harm her child. Full of concern, the mother quickly got into her car and drove along the route to her child's school. As she did, she saw her little girl walking along. At each flash of lightning; the child would stop, look up, and smile. Another and another flash of lighting followed quickly and with each, the little girl would look at the streak of light and smile. When the mother's car drew up beside the child, she lowered the window and called to her 'What are you doing?'? The child answered, 'I am trying to look pretty because God keeps taking my picture. ' Just ha

kashti ka rukh mod - other side of wonder

Its a beautiful story...sent across by a friend....and it reminds me of a similar experience in the past - tackling and solving an extremely difficult problem - just by looking at the other side of it! One of my favourite quots ("sher")--> nazar badli to nazare badal gaye, kashti ka rukh moda to kinare badal gaye! नज़र बदली तो नजारे बदल गए कश्ती का रुख मोडा तो किनारे बदल गए A Father was reading a magazine and his little daughter every now and then distracted him. To keep her busy, he tore one page on which was printed the map of the world. He tore it into pieces and asked her to go to her room and put them together to make the map again. He was sure she would take the whole day to get it done. But the little one came back within minutes with perfect map. When he asked how she could do it so quickly, she said, “Oh…Dad, there is a man's face on the other side of the paper. I made the face perfect to get the map right.” She ran outside to play leaving the father surprised.

Best Video which made me smile

Playing for a change No matter where you are, what you are doing, what you were thinking, this video would bring a tear to your eyes and makes you smile for the rest of the day! Watch it from beginning to end—you won't regret it. Had seen this some time ago, and wanted to share it with you all! Some piece of informaiton I dug up: This cover of Stand By Me by Roger was recorded by completely unknown artists in a street virtual studio all around the world. It all started with a base track—vocals and guitar—recorded on the streets of Santa Monica in California, by this street musician called Roger Ridley. The base track was then taken to New Orleans, Louisiana, where Grandpa Elliott—a blind singer from the French Quarter—added vocals and harmonica while listening to Ridley's base track on headphones. In the same city, Washboard Chaz's added some metal percussion to it. The producers took the resulting mix all through Europe, Africa, and South America, adding new tracks with mu

I have the right, the power and the ability, to create a beautiful, joyful, and peaceful world for myself and others. I have a body, but i am not my body. I have a face, but i am not my face. I am the most important thing in the world to me. I am love in motion. I am the light of the world. I can create. I can make a mistake. I can create something beautiful in all that i do. I deserve the best. I give my best. I do my best to always take car
