Nature and Cooperation

 

Taiwan yuhinas (pictured) are a joint-nesting species of birds where group members within a nest are unrelated. Shen et al. show that unfavourable environmental conditions reduce social conflict and make the birds more cooperative, a strategy that results in higher offspring survival.
