Date: Oct 3, 2010: Barring the speculation and apprehensions a few days ago... India stuns the world with a spectacular show at the opening ceremony of Commonwealth Games 2010 at Delhi, India The stunning aerostat with Rajasthani puppets hanging from it and dancing...   i was just too mesmerized by that UFO typo.. err well balloon cum projector cum screen. ] It was a breath taking ceremony with the traditional dance forms, drums, music and esp the rocking AEROSTAT filled with Helium which doubled as a projection screen... !  Clever Use and concept...! The other segments throughout the evening had the Yoga, Tree of Knowledge, and the Great Indian Journey. Oh! I was downloading eclipse , and I remembered mom watching TV an listening to the news channels buzzing around with the news of the first lunar hide n seek.... and with the astrologers telling the do's n dont's on the day of the eclipse - I remember one - not to eat during the peak time of the eclipse. Well, I looked for the time of the eclipse n came across this "delicious" pic.... err... well I was hungry na! Damn! who's gonna wait till 10 pm! I could already hear the bhangra music :P of the rehearsals the mice in my stomach were planning....! Ah! its the first lunar eclipse of 2009.. approximately 11 days after the first solar eclipse. Treat for the eyes:) The cold winter morning air of beautiful morning of almost every January 26th begins with a patriotic feeling. Still snuggled in quilts, holding hot coffee mugs, I generally love that holiday esp if it falls on a weekday :) Republic day! The national capital is always buzz with this and that, and is the centre of attraction esp on the National Holidays (oh! I do not even want to mention the "poly-tick-all" or poly-tickle reasons :D ) Some of my non-Indian friends ask me about the capped gun at India gate :), and I tell them about the eternal flame - called the Amar Jawan Jyoti-which is basically the All-India War Memorial - burning there to commemorate the indomitable courage of our Armed Forces personnel who have made the supreme sacrifice in the service of the motherland. The capped Hero is none other than the Amar Jawan, or the immortal soldier , and is symbolised by a reversed rifle topped by a helmet. Ah! so, the all colourful republic day parad
