Satyagraha Against Corruption- Supporting Anna Hazare!

The youth participating in the Candle March from India Gate to Jantar Mantar, New Delhi!

"What's in it for me? Why should I have been there?" was what people asked!! [I am sure the politicians literally relied on "THIS" genre of the country and would have been confident about the failure of the movement!! ]

A movement - which no one thought would truly inspire and involve the youth of India to such an extent!

Supporting Anna Hazare ji to pass lokpal bill against corrupt politicians in INDIA!

There was a mixed response on the movement in the beginning...
Lot of skepticism - people not knowing "what they wanted" and taking it as just another aamaran anshan or bhook hartal!!
Some called it convenient patriotism!!

Some compared it to Rang De Basanti, some to some to the other movement, but India Against Corruption has turned out to be a national movement. All over India, enthusiastic youth with special contribution from the YES!+ teachers and volunteers on the clarion call of SriSri Ravishankar ji (YES+ Noida and YES+ Delhi groups esp) have led and participated in rallies and candlelight vigils.

We did have tons of media-hungry people there as well :D just to gather the few seconds of fame (and I am saying this literally seeing a few people jumping in front of the huge poster when the media-men flashed their lights, and vanishing from scene there-after... phew!)

Uhhh.. there were quite some around  who somehow  "assumed" that all the "Indians" standing there in support are "kinda-free/ vella".. and maybe unaware that they had specially taken time out for this, despite terribly hectic schedules!!

Oh and not to forget: the skepticism included questions like

"Wat is jan lok pal bill..." which is of course a valid question and people should KNOW what they are standing for?

" ya, planning to watch Rang De Basanti tonight - especially the India Gate scene..
spread awareness about what? what are the clauses of this Lok Pal Bill that's troubling the old man... Half knowledge is no good to follow a cause." Checkout the video which explains the basics of Jan Lok Pal bill
So here goes it for them:

Here's another click

I coudn't get off my eyes from this scene.. He and one more old fellow were standing there -relentless... not bothered by the terrible Noise around.... but with a SILENT appeal in their tired eyes.... we've had it enough!
He sat on fast with Annaa..

The Candle March from India Gate to Jantar Mantar started off with youngsters making  hand made posters on charts, sticking them with glue, and peacefully walking towards where Anna sat on a fast unto death; singing songs ranging from Vande Mataram, Nanha munna rahi hun, Ham homge Kamyab, etc and finally reaching the venue, singing the National Anthem,  and placing the candles down...

Anna on fast unto death at jantar Mantar, April 2011

We walked oblivious of the molten wax running down  our hands... and completed the peaceful Candle march

(with the occasional media men from NDTV, IBN Live, ETV, CNN etc  jumping in with their cams and mikes about "Why are you here? Do you think Kendra Sarkar tak apki baat pahunchegi etc..").. etc...

There was a lot of support by people providing candles - I am surprise - some of my friends who wouldn't walk a step, and start complaining at small things- were all right there!
Beginning of a new era? Yeah! a positive one!
Here's the dawn!

Congrats at Anna's victory - its India's victory...
The battle has just begun .. towards making India a better nation... keep up the good work ♥
Thanks for all support who-ever did.. in little or big way :) Jai Hind!

  4. Wonderful amalgamation........Whenever there is a revolution we will find skeptics, ppl who are pessimistic and apprehensive...it is all but natural, given our poor history, lack of civility and dishonesty in every sphere of our lives'....the onus is on us to be steadfast in our single minded pursuit of a, 'New well informed and an emancipated India'....inspite of all the hurdles we have to root out corruption at any cost...We have a long way to go but atleast we have made a start..........Let there be Hope,Positivity,Optimism all around.........
Wonderful post,Sarika....Keep up the good work...All the best.....

How many of us bother? I do!

Came across this intersting article today..... Hmmm... agreed- >" Were the differences between the sexes to be abolished, human nature would become as flat-tasting as wilted vegetables. " Men have long disparaged women for no better reason than that they simply aren't men. And women, too, have long dismissed anything men say or do with the mere epithet: “Men!” We should be thankful for the differences in human nature. Were the differences between the sexes to be abolished, human nature would become as flat-tasting as wilted vegetables. Let us look at that expression of masculine contempt: “Bahfeminine intuition!” Women are often, in fact, intuitive. So also, though generally in other ways, are men. Women's intuition finds expression most often through their insights into people. A wife may warn her husband, for instance, “That person you've been thinking of hiring isn't a good choice.” “What makes you think so?” demands the husband. “You've met him onl...
